Crown-Māori Relations Foundation Course

New to Government or looking to come up to speed with the Crown-Maori relations focus of the Government? This one day course is what you need.

The day covers the essential topics to help you understand the historical context of the Crown-Maori relationship, Te Ao Māori (Māori world view), Te Reo Māori and practical advice and guidance on how to engage effectively with whanau, hapu and iwi.

An experiential, Marae based learning course which is immersive, challenging and rewarding.

Mahanga Maru BBS

Mahanga Maru (Ngati Porou) is an independent management consultant who has advised public and private sector organisations on various matters relating to Iwi and Māori including Treaty of Waitangi negotiations, public policy, strategy development and implementation, cultural capability and engagement. He has extensive leadership experience facilitating and leading projects and initiatives between Iwi Māori and the Crown and private companies in the infrastructure sector (energy and oil and gas). Mahanga is an Independent RMA Commissioner and he has given evidence in council hearings and the Environment Court in relation to cultural matters. His governance experience includes roles as Director and Chair of a primary health organisation and a member of the Environment Protection Authority Statutory Māori Advisory Committee, Ngā Kaihautu Tikanga Taiao.
